Course Organization and Description
|
• Theology of Marriage
Marriage will be examined from а theological
perspective. Human sexuality, the nature of
love and commitment, marriage as covenant,
and marriage as sacrament will be explored
and developed.
• General Norms
The course will cover
marriage from а canonical perspective
and we will provide a general overview
of Canon Law, including the law of Eastern
Churches.
• Canonical Procedure
The course will provide a general overview
of canonical process. It will cover matters
of jurisdiction, court constitution, the
rights and responsibilities of the various
officers of the court, and the manner of
presenting a case before the court and
seeing it to conclusion.
• Jurisprudence
The legal reasoning behind the various
grounds for a declaration of nullity of
marriage will be presented. What is and is not relevant to such
а determination will be highlighted.
• Eastern Churches
The course will overview the Eastern Code
presenting the Eastern form of celebration
of marriage, the differences in impediments,
conditions, dispensation, and other minor
differences with the Latin Church for marriages.
• Practicum
The Professor provides
to the students based on what they have
learned, information to work on small-groups
to practice in interviewing clients
and analyzing their situation. The professor
also will teach the students how to prepare
the
advocate's brief. It is an argument, why the
